Problems with balance, dizziness, unsteadiness and difficulty walking cause many people to limit their activities and can greatly affect one’s quality of life. Falls due to balance issues can be caused by a number of factors, including weakness, joint stiffness, inner ear problems, the lack of consistent exercise, or simply issues related to aging. Several medical conditions such as arthritis, stroke, MS, and Parkinson’s disease can also increase the chances of a fall.
With more than a third of all U.S. adults 65 and older experiencing a fall each year, with up to 30 percent suffering moderate to severe injuries (according to the CDC), it’s important to take balance issues seriously. Our physical therapists will assess the cause of your balance issues and provide an individualized program with an eye toward strengthening and stabilizing your body.
